Emily and Harry’s Fundraising Story
In April ’14, Emily Brady and boyfriend Harry Coleman set out to raise money for a trip to Bulgaria in early June, through the profits of two fundraising ventures. The first comprised a gig at the Pilgrim Pub, Liverpool entitled “HIDDEN FACES: A Charitable Event”. Drawing on the success of Emily’s sister, Jess’ photography exhibition called “Lost Lives, Hidden Faces” that successfully ran for a week in the VENUE in Sofia, it was decided to connect the photography of Jess’ portraits to an event that showcased some of Liverpool’s best musical student talent.
The event featured four bands:
The Hazel Empire (https://www.facebook.com/TheHazelEmpire?fref=ts )
Zefflo (https://soundcloud.com/zefflo )
Lewis Anthony Veakins (https://soundcloud.com/lewis-anthony-veakins )
Seafaring Creatures (https://soundcloud.com/seafaring-creatures)
… and included a raffle, the prizes of which were donated by local businesses around Liverpool. The event was a success and raised £275 pounds for Holding out Hope. This was followed by a fundraising campaign for a 10K run in Preston, that took place on the 1st of June. The hot weather proved a hurdle but the distance was successfully completed and the MyDonate page generated a £290 benefit.
The two events combined, Emily and Harry raised £565 in around a month and a half (all the while trying their best to complete their Bachelor’s degrees!), which they are looking forward to seeing the benefits of whilst in Bulgaria from the 8th-15th of June.
